Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education received HK$4.25M of sponsorship from GO-Business

Global e-Business Services Limited (“GO-Business”), a subsidiary of Computer And Technologies Holdings Limited (“C&T Holdings”, SEHK: 0046) today announces a HK$4.25 million worth of sponsorship to the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education ("IVE") through the donation of “Ge-TS 商貿易” Trade Declaration System and its award-winning e-Tendering System (“e-tendering.com”).

"We are very pleased to provide these software to IVE to contribute to the development of human capital for e-commerce in Hong Kong, especially amongst small to medium enterprises ("SMEs"),” said Mr. Peter Yan, Chief Executive Officer of GO-Business. “SMEs in Hong Kong currently lack the awareness of how information technology can enhance business efficiency and reduce operating costs. We aim to play a role in filling this void by offering our innovative software to boost the teaching infrastructure of tertiary institutions, ultimately equipping students with the technical know-how to enhance the overall competitiveness of SMEs in Hong Kong and our position as the IT hub of Asia."

The award-winning Electronic Tendering System (“ETS”) is an online solution which directly links suppliers with the Government Logistics Department of Hong Kong SAR. It enables suppliers to submit tender offers and access tender notices, clarifications and contract awards notices anytime and anywhere. The system has won numerous awards locally and internationally, including a Certificate of Merit (2nd Prize) – E-Commerce Category in the regional Asia Pacific Information Communication Technology Award (APICTA) in 2003, two Certificates of Merit for Stockholm Challenge in 2001 and 2002, and a Certificate of Merit at the IT Excellence Award 2002 organized by the Hong Kong Computer Society.

Students of the Department of Business Services & Management ("BSM") of IVE, Tsing Yi and members of the Hong Kong Centre for Transport & Logistics ("HKCTL") will receive free accounts and training of e-Tendering and Ge-TS Trade Declaration System.

Sponsored by GO-Business, these IVE students and members of HKCTL will enjoy free use of educational versions of e-tendering.com for five years and Ge-TS Trade Declaration System for three years, while students of IVE, Morrison Hill can enjoy free use of Ge-TS Trade Declaration System for three years. The e-Tendering System and Ge-TS Trade Declaration System will be incorporated in the syllabus of three specified higher diplomas in BSM, Tsing Yi.

"Our sponsorship enables IVE students to receive practical hands-on training on information technology, which will definitely enhance their personal and professional development, hence their marketability and competitive edge,” said Yan of GO-Business.
GO-Business is authorized by the Hong Kong SAR Government to operate a new generation Government Electronic Trading Services (“GETS”) starting from 2004. Under the brand name of “Ge-TS 商貿易”, GO-Business collects and processes various trade related statutory documents such as Trade Declarations, Certificates of Origin, Dutiable Commodities Permits electronically on behalf of the Hong Kong SAR Government for the local business community of more than 60,000 companies.
